THE PLAY

Rev. Heller co-authored Let the Phoenix Rise! a dynamic play which tells the true stories of four troubled teenage girls, and their personal trials and tribulations through adversity. Guided by Grace, the counselor/Archetypal Mother, they struggle to make sense out of the circumstances they were born into.  As they embark on their journeys within,  Their stories become imbued with fairy-tale and life affirming directives, conveyed in Greek Chorus tradition. Through comedic and dramatic re-creation, LTPR! strives to convey that challenging oppressive forces can liberate the life-giving creative energy, which leads to surrender and acceptance.   Through this performance Rev. Heller hopes to impart that faith, vigilance, and hard work can result in lives of emotional, creative, and spiritual fulfillment.

PHOENIX WORKSHOP

The Phoenix Project is a comprehensive workshop for women and girls who want to give creative expression to their struggles and find empowering solutions to life’s conflicts. Using Let the Phoenix Rise! as a template, workshop participants attend a staged reading and are guided through a healing and empowering process of self reclamation. Through psychological, spiritual, and creative exploration, we challenge and confront sources of oppression, so that a deeper sense of purpose and conviction of our own self-worth and power results. Two comprehensive Phoenix Project creative arts workshops prepared five courageous women for a stage-worthy performance of the narratives and prose which they wrote in the workshop process. Dubbed The Atomic Butterflies, the workshop women performed their theatrical pieces as an opening act for LTPR! at the Kraine Theater in NYC.
